SCHOOL VISITS
Hi. My name is pronounced Mac-Loud. I’ve been a comic book artist for Marvel and DC Comics for
many years, drawing Spider-Man and Superman among others, and now I’ve created a new alphabet
book called "SuperHero ABC", published by HarperCollins . It features all original new superheroes,
teaching the alphabet with silly humor your students will love.
My program is adaptable to any age group, from kindergarten to adults. Depending on the interest of
the audience, I can either focus on my ABC book or on comic books. I usually begin with either a
description of what goes into creating a page of art for a comic book, showing examples on an overhead
projector, or go through my ABC book, showing how I developed the characters and artwork. I
demonstrate some simple things everyone can do to improve their own drawings, and I then have the kids
do a drawing of a cartoon figure along with me, step-by-step. Finally, I answer any questions they
have. I can speak to small groups in a classroom or large groups in an auditorium, for short periods
of 30-40 minutes or longer periods up to an hour and a half. I usually do 2 or 3 sessions for various
grade levels, but I’ll try to do whatever works best for you.
Please email me with any
questions. I look forward to visiting with you!
